2023 Nissan Altima Review, Pricing, and Specs

Nissan Altima introduction

On June 9, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.’s U.S. division announced the 2023 model of the Nissan Altima. Scheduled to be released in the U.S. market this fall, the design has been completely redesigned, centering on the front mask.

Nissan’s primary mid-range sedan in the U.S. market is the Altima. In the Japanese market, the conventional model was introduced as the Teana. The current Altima is the 6th generation model. The 2023 model announced this time will be a significantly improved model.
The front has adopted a new “V motion grille” more expansive than the previous model, resulting in a bold transformation. Nissan’s new brand logo will also be featured. Standard LED headlights incorporate daytime running lights and turn signals. The rear taillights have been redesigned.
The sporty “S.R.” grade has a specially designed grille that is different from other grades. This grille has a unique black chrome finish.

Inside, the previous 8.0-inch display has been replaced with a newly designed 12.3-inch display. The high-resolution display provides clear images and graphics. The instrument panel has been improved to enhance its texture.

◆Equipped with “V.C. Turbo” engine with variable compression ratio

The engine is a downsized direct-injection 2.0-litre inline 4-cylinder gasoline V.C. Turbo” engine installed in the S.R. grade front-wheel drive model. The maximum output is 248hp, and the maximum torque is 37.7kgm. This downsized engine replaced the 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6 gasoline engine installed in the previous model.
A variable compression ratio engine is the world’s first mass-produced powertrain. Variable compression ratio technology utilizes a multi-link system that seamlessly changes the top-dead-centre position of the piston, allowing it to adjust to the optimal compression ratio quickly.

Compression ratios can be adjusted freely between 8:1 (high performance) and 14:1 (high efficiency). The engine’s control logic automatically selects the optimal compression ratio according to driving conditions. In addition, the technology offers many benefits, such as significantly reduced fuel consumption and emissions, reduced noise and vibration levels, and a lighter, more compact design.

◆Nissan Altima standard

All 2023 models will come standard with Nissan Safety Shield 360. Nissan Safety Shield 360 technology includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, high beam assist, and rear automatic braking.
In addition to Nissan Safety Shield 360, all grades come standard with Intelligent Driver Alertness Technology and Rear Door Alert. Higher trim levels also have an Intelligent Around View Monitor and traffic sign recognition.
